Your dog loves treats, but you don’t love the chemicals and preservatives. What are you to do? Simple! Make dog treats on your own at home. All of the following recipes are fast, easy and healthy.
Peanut Butter Balls
Combine 1/2 cup peanut butter, two eggs and two cups of oats. Mix until a soft dough forms, adding water if/as needed. Pinch off bits of the dough and roll into balls. Store in an airtight container, stacked between layers of parchment paper.
Cheesy Dog Cookies
Mix 2 cups of your choice of flour with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 3/4 cup of water. Roll the dough out and cut with a cookie cutter or slice into squares with a sharp knife. Bake in a 250 degree oven for three hours. These cookies should be very dry and golden brown when done.
Pupsicles
On those hot days dogs need cool treats. Mix six ounces of unflavored Greek yogurt with 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce. Spread in ice trays and freeze until solid. Your pup is going to love that icy delight!
Veggie Fruit Balls
Repeat the above recipe, but add 1/4 cup shredded carrot. This also works great with mashed bananas.
